There is a thunderstorm approaching from the southwest — common this time of year — & just now as I was taking the dogs down to the end of the road for a quick “out” before bed & before the storm, I noticed that there were a whole lot of fireflies about. The kind that have a greenish light & blink quickly, not the slower blinking yellowish ones.

It was, but the storm didn’t really pan out — went south of us — which was a little disappointing.
Last week, I was sharing a campsite on the Inca Trail about 10 miles walking distance from Machu Picchu. One of the people in camp was describing a scene from their youth in Malaysia. They talked about rounding a bend in a river and seeing the air full of fire flies for the first time. A British couple were amazed. They’d never seen fireflies growing up in the north/central part of England.
I thought fireflies were everywhere but apparently not in the UK!
Sam, what a great trip that must have been. Wow.
