What’s the old adage? It’s not the crime but the coverup? See Mark Kleiman’s blog for more links. And Josh Marshall has been all over this. Perhaps there are limits to the corruption Americans will accept in their elected & appointed officials. Perhaps.

Hello to Sharp Sand: How kind of you to invite me to return to the blog any time! I am at the library often and usually do use the internet, so I will plan to look at Sharp Sand often. Today I looked, I had not known of the Hillary Clinton hymn quote. I can see the video but not hear the audio on the library computer, to me her intention was supported by her manner - she increased her effectiveness and reached out to her audience with a hymn quote. When dialect writing occurs, intention matters to those whose memory of the sounds is personal. At First Lutheran Church we are looking at Lutheran religious music and architecture and art at the morning Sunday School. (In a 1920’s move to a new building, Sunday School was at the Valhalla Hall down the street.) The church was Swedish. Did you know that Bill Henderson published a book about hymns last year? Truly, Laura Jensen

Laura, I grew up listening to & singing (badly) Baptist hymns. Though I no longer consider myself a Christian, I still love some of that poetry. (Some hymns are really terrible, though.)

    Good morning JD-

    http://www.mahablog.com/2007/03/13/five-stages/

In a nutshell - just as it is said that there are five stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance), there are five stages to how any fans of the Bush Administration react to Administration scandals:

    1. Ignoring
    2. Belittling
    3. Blaming the Media
    4. Evoking Bill Clinton.
    5. Boredom
