Just Asking

How come every time George W. Bush goes on TV he has to tell us what his job is? It makes him sound like he isn’t quite sure or doesn’t quite know. “My job is to protect the troops,” he said today. Well, No, Sir, that isn’t really your job, even within a limited military context. Troops are by definition to be used. If your job was to “protect” them, you would not have sent them in harm’s way. Maybe the president keeps telling us what his job is because he has never actually had a job. You know, where there were consequences for failure. His recent statements seem to suggest that History will bail him out the way his family & father’s friends bailed him out of one failure after another. I just shake my head in wonder at how the American people could have been so stupid &/or delusional to have twice elected this little fuck-up to be president. It does not say very good things about our national character. My one satisfaction is that Bush may live long enough to see his administration completely & utterly discredited.

    Respectfully, let me ask:

What would make one think that Bush, or his puppeteers or supporters, will ever acknowledge their accountability and complicity in the harm they’ve caused this country?

It can never be his fault. That’s what he’s telling you, every time, he speaks.

Bush will never acknowledge his errors of judgment, malfeasance, & utter lack of concern for anything but his own cowering little ego. He lacks the self-awareness to make such acknowledgments & will go on constructing a personal narrative of self-justification. His supporters are mostly delusional & the puppet masters are too cynical to ever admit their moral & political failures. So, you’re right. But I didn’t think my post implied otherwise.
